Devilled Fish

Devilled Fish is an extremely popular way of cooking Fish in Sri Lanka. Boneless Fish pieces are taken, marinated by using spicy sauces and mix of spices, blended with other ingridients for a wholesome dish.

How To Make:

Ingredients:

  • KVC Ginger Paste - 1 Teaspoon

  • KVC Garlic Paste- 1 Tablespoon

  • Chille Powder & Chili Flakes- 1 Tablespoon

  • KVC Tomato Sauce- 2 Tablespoons

  • KVC Soya Sauce- 1 Tablespoon

  • Sugar- 1 Tablespoon

  • Large Onion-1 (Chopped)

  • Red Bell pepper & Capsicum -4

  • Large Tomato- 1 (Chopped)

  • Salt & Pepper

  • Coconut or Vegetable Oil

  • Plain Flour- 2 Tablespoons

To Marinade the Fish:

  1. 400 g of Fish ( Cut Into pieces), 1 Teaspoon chili powder, 1/4 Teaspoon of salt & pepper , 1 Tablespon each from KVC Ginger paste, KVC Garlic paste, KVC Coconut Vinegar.

Steps:

  1. Cut the Fish into Pieces & Marinate them with a mix of above Ingredients for 15-30 min.

  2. Mix the marinated Fish pieces with flour.

  3. Then Fry the fish pieces until cooked through and set aside.

  4. Heat some oil and Stir-fry KVC Ginger and Garlic pastes.

  5. Now Mix KVC Soya sauce, KVC Tomato Sauce & Sugar and Stir constantly for a minute

  6. Then add Chili Flakes & chili powder and stir well for a 1-2 mins.

  7. Add Bell pepper, Capsicum ,Chopped Onion & Chopped Tomatoes.

  8. Finally, add the Fried Fish Pieces and Stir until the Fish pieces are well coated in the sauce.

  9. Remove from heat and let it rest for few minutes.
